  • low white blood cell counts – chills, swollen glands, fever, body aches, pale skin, weakness easy bruising or bleeding;
  • severe headaches, ringing in your ears, dizziness, nausea, vision problems, pain behind your eyes;
  • Stomach pain, Loss of appetite, tiredness, weakness, vomiting, nausea, fast heart rate, jaundice

  • Liver disease
  • asthma or sulfite allergy.
  • increased pressure inside your skull; or
  • taking isotretinoin, seizure medicine, or a blood thinner

In case you are taking this medicine to treat chlamydia, your doctor may ask you to take test to assure you do not have gonorrhea (a sexually transmitted disease)

It may affect tooth and bone development in the body if you are pregnant or become pregnant while taking this medicine. You are at risk of permanent tooth discoloration in later part of baby’s life if you take this medicine in last half of pregnancy. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant while on the regular dose of doxycycline.

Doxycycline can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. Speak to your doctor for other non- hormonal birth controls such as condom, diaphragm with spermicide etc. to prevent pregnancy.

The medicine can pass through breast milk and affect tooth and bone development in nursing infant. Avoid breastfeeding while on the dose of this medicine.

How should I take doxycycline?
